Caribbean Justice Work

INN is deeply committed to creative justice work in the Caribbean, particularly in Trinidad & Tobago.

In addition to our Education Not Incarceration work there, INN has launched a musical group, Critical Mas, made of formerly incarcerated and justice-involved artists who are using music and art to change the narrative about prisons and the people impacted by them. Spearheaded by our TnT Team Leader Nicholas Khan, the group collaborates with jazz icon Etienne Charles, Trinidadian artist Rheon Elbourne and Jamaican producer Koolface. The group released its first single—”Born a Criminal,” by Friday and Critical Mas featuring Etienne Charles, can be downloaded here—in 2024, and will be releasing an album in 2025. For Critical Mas bookings contact Cherese at Chewash@gmail.com

In partnership with the law faculty of the University of the West Indies, INN has also launched a mobile legal aid and strategic litigation clinic that will also work to sensitive law students to the crisis of incarceration in Trinidad and beyond.
